Scandi-inspired Blackwork Patchwork

After a void of creative inspiration, this:

Doom scrolling pinterest (that’s what happens when the creative bucket is parched, as you know) brought me upon this pin.

I stumbled over the design, embracing the half stitch and quarter stitch in my handy dandy $6 cross stitch graph paper notebook. (ahhhh what an inexpensive hobby when the designs can come from your own brain!)

It needs a frame still, but it’s coming. Because stitching is way more fun than framing. Every. Day.

Anyway. Enough typey-type and more picturey-picture:

Behold ⬆️ My plan ⬆️
Full of flaws I intend to work out as I stitch.
As usual. Also dots are suuuper easy to draw but suuuper not easy when they become french knots. Getting better at them, anyway.
Is there anything more gratifying than holding your work at arm’s length every so often to note Just How Far You’ve Come?
And much like the impending doom of finishing a beloved series, the question at this point is: what will I do next? The end of a creative project is the worst. (I do always associate a creative project with its tv show that I binge watched while doing. This one: M*A*S*H)
And here it sits in its vinegar bath (to set the colours so they don’t bleed)
Imagine epoxy over something like this.
What. A. Good. Idea. Oh my I need to go do that right now (I may just now hit publish and leave this thing unfinished as I go – sorry!)
Pictures on angles are snazzy. See? ⬆️
